About the network
The University of Melbourne’s Health Informatics Network was initiated in 2006 by the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and by the Department of Information Systems in the Faculty of Science.
The network is a formally designated interdisciplinary Steering Committee of the University. It is funded to initiate public forums, academic leadership activities, visiting scholar programs and other exchanges with industry, the public sector, professional bodies and the wider community.
Our scope
The network includes clinicians, scientists, information and communication professionals, technology managers, educators and researchers.
It integrates expertise in medical and health sciences specialties, information systems and technology, management and policy, economics, psychology and sociology.
It supports cross-disciplinary science and technology approaches to addressing emerging and complex information and communication issues in health and biomedicine.
It facilitates collaborations with health and ICT professional organisations, health service providers, health technology developers, government and community agencies and educational institutions.
